The Art of Carving and Engraving

Feb/16/2013 - Feb/16/2013
Location: Historic Jefferson College

Richard Horne, period carver and engraver, will demonstrate the skill of using hand tools to perform an almost lost art--wood carving and metal etching.

Horne began learning his craft in 1996, while working for Tennessee Valley Muzzleloading in Corinth, Mississippi. By watching other engravers at living history events, reading and watching videos, he taught himself the basics of carving and engraving, and has honed his craft over the past seventeen years. He now has carved/engraved over a hundred guns stocks and numerous other small projects for family, friends, fellow history enthusiasts, civic clubs and other organizations, and also teaches the skill to others.

This demonstration will run from 1:00-3:00, and is free of charge.
