Natchez Under-the-Hill’s reputation as a den of vice and sin has remained a constant in the city’s history since the late 1700s, when boats first started docking at the wide expanse below the city. Prostitution, gunfights, gambling, and drunken brawls—everyone knew where NOT to hang out (or perhaps, exactly WHERE to hang out!), but was this reputation fairly earned?
