Stalking & Tracking Workshop

Feb/23/2013 - Feb/23/2013
Location: Historic Jefferson College

During the workshop, participants will learn to identify many of Mississippi's common mammal tracks by looking at the size, general shape, number of toes, and presence or lack of webbing and claws. Afterwards, the group will go outside to learn the art of super slo-mo movement, how to break up your silhouette, and instant freezing. This will go on rain or shine.

Although this class would obviously benefit hunters, it's for anyone who enjoys animals and the outdoors, and who would like to get a closer look at some the critters that inhabit the world around us. To help them with track identification after class, each participant will receive an Animal Tracks of Mississippi and Louisiana book to take home.

Robin Person, Branch Director of Historic Jefferson College, will conduct the workshop. She has been teaching track identification classes to children and adults in various venues
for over twelve years.

Workshop from 1:00-3:00 rain or shine!

$15 pre-registration required.

Historic Jefferson College is located off Hwy. 61, 4 miles northeast of Natchez, in the town of Washington. It is administered by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.
